1:15-2pm  “Gender, Sexuality, and the Harlem Renaissance”  Lunch Lecture

5-6:00pm  “Afro-Cuban & Caribbean Movement for Blues”  — Alfredo Melendez

There is a shared history with North American blues dance and Caribbean dance. We’re going to explore some of it including a little bit about the origins and meanings behind the movement. Get ready to loosen up those vertebrae and feet with this class!

3:00-3:45     “Blues Masterpiece Theatre”   Lunch Lecture

— Brooke Filsinger & Jered Morin 

Grab some popcorn and join us as we journey through time and space (not really) to delve into Blues movement through film! We’ve got a bunch’o’cool clips you probably haven’t seen that we can’t wait to share! We’ll trace the evolution from everyday life into the culture and art form that we are familiar with now. We’ll discuss the impact of each major era and what it means for your dancing today! And Popcorn!

6:00-7:00  “Individual Feedback Sessions”  — All Instructors

You will get the chance to circulate through the room talking to instructors individually, getting competition or social dance feedback, or asking them to clarify concepts presented in their classes.  Sign up is available throughout the weekend at the registration desk.
